How to Start a Daycare From Home With Four Easy Steps

Would you like to know how to start a daycare from home? Starting a home daycare are for those individuals who have a natural love for children. And the current economy has made it necessary for both parents to work in order to make the mortgage payments. So it is natural that daycare businesses are booming everywhere.

My wife started her own daycare business 4 years ago when she decided that she wanted to raise our new infant. But she had to find a way to make some extra money on the side so that our finances would not suffer. So she decided to combine her love for children and her business background and start a daycare. She started it small with 3 extra children and then found that the need was there to expand her business as more parent called her to see if she had room. And she attributes this to her planning of her business. All her planning has made it possible for her to be successful.

Here is what she did in the way of planning.

Contact you local childcare agency

Every state has their own laws that govern how a daycare provider should care for children in their state. It is important to contact your local state childcare agency and check on the laws that pertain to childcare. Some states do not require a license, but I would suggest going through the process and getting your license. Licensed providers tend to make more money then un-licensed providers. And the state will back you up as a quality provider.

Plan out the inner workings of your daycare

Now that you have your license, you can start to plan out how you will run your home daycare. I would suggest creating some documents that will be useful for both you and your clients.

Creating the following documents will help you run your business.

o business.educationeasy.net Business Plan

o Client Contract (Minimum One Month Term)

o Curriculum Plan

o Sign In Sheet

o Parental Update

o Generic Thank You Letters

o Payment Receipts

Make sure your home has what it needs

You are going to need some items to make sure the children and infants are comfortable in their new environment. These are some things that you may want to purchase prior to opening.

o Cribs, high chairs, sleeping mats, tables, etc.

o diapers and baby products

o food and nutrition supplies

o play structures, toys and games

o arts and craft supplies

Market your new home daycare

Now that you are ready to open your doors, it is time to get out there and market your new daycare. Create fliers for the grocery stores in your area. Contact your local church and let them know that you have openings and ask if you could put a flier on the church bulletin board. Or you could even sign up on an online babysitting search engine.

You will start receiving calls from parents in your area before you know it. My wife received so many by the second week that she had to refer them to her back up babysitter.

If you want to continue to operate you daycare you may have to abide by the daycare regulations set out by your state. You will have to do your own research when it comes to the regulations in a certain state. But there are a lot of resource on the web that can help you navigate through this process
