Legal Real Home Base Business - Work From Home on Your Schedule

There are often times that a person seeks to work from home. Mother's find working from home a feasible way to contribute to the fiscal aspects of the home, but still be a full time parent to small children. A handicapped or laid off person can supplement government checks, or do without them. Still, others just seek a more flexible work schedule. What ever the reason, a legal real home base business is in high demand right now.

Notice the word "real." While Ford, Apple, and Hershey's Chocolate all are examples of a company that started as a home based business, most home based businesses are not going to become the next Ford Company. There are many get rich quick web sites, that promise you will earn millions of dollars, with just a few hours a day. In reality, 99.9% of this are scams. The only person earning millions of dollars....is the person operating the scam.

However, there are real work at home businesses that work and are profitable. The first thing that you should do, is decide if a home based business is the right thing for you to do. Ask yourself a few questions:

Do I have a marketable idea; that I am skilled enough to complete, and confident enough in to stake money on?

Am I expecting a supplemental income or a fixed income?

Do I need any licenses, registrations, insurance, or permits to ensure that I am a legal real home base business?

Can I live and work in the same place- i.e. distractions, family concerns, etc?

Am I willing to take the risk?

How will it effect my personal taxes?

Think hard about these questions and the effect that they will have on your life. If you are unsure there are several agencies that can help you answer these questions. Two places to start are the- Small Business Administration and the Small Business Development Center. They can also help you with what resources available to get a loan for the start up money. The SMA insures loans, but does not issue them.

If you do not have an idea or resources for start up money, there are still other options for legal real home base business. One of which is buying into an existing franchise. Again you must be aware that there are many scams out there. So, finding a legal real home base business will require a little prudent research.

If the ad for the home based business sounds too good to be true, or makes a specific promise like: guaranteed $2000.00 dollars a month, no risk, start a business and sit on the beach, etc.. it probably really is too good to be true. Most franchise opportunities will cost you an investment of $10,000- $300,000. So, think carefully and do the research before making the investment. A good place to start your research is with: fairness boards, The Better Business Bureau, and the Federal Trade Commission. See if your state requires a pre sale disclosure; some states do and other don't.
