Business Opportunity All In Your Home

If you've considered opting for a home business opportunity because of the appeal to it (a.) getting paid big bucks b.) earning in a short period of time c.) exerting less effort d.) being your own boss), you must always do your homework. Sometime these businesses are mere scams.

1.) Carefully look at the ad. If the employer promises that you will be earning this income, then make sure that you do. Treat this work-at-home business opportunity as the real thing, meaning that whatever is promised to you must be what you would be getting in the long run.

2.) As much as possible, your earning must be claimed in writing. There must be a written document of the conditions that you and the employer have agreed on. It should mention there the earning claimed, as well as other statistics such as number and percentage. Should the need for the document arises, there is written proof to the conditions and terms agreed on in this business opportunity.

3.) Study the business franchise document. The FTC franchise rule advises that every business opportunity must always release a document revealing the information about the company and the situation it is in with regards to the whole industry as a whole. The employee must know the ins and outs of what exactly his labor is for.

4.) If possible, you can ask opinions from those who have experienced working for this opportunity. Their testimonials on the business opportunity, be it good or bad, will at least give you an idea on how exactly they do business. You must know this because how they negotiate is what you will be encountering since you are working for them.

5.) If you can, contact the general's office, state or county consumer protection agency of where the business opportunity you're eying is located. Thus, you can check whether there are records of complaints set on them. Complaints would be filed if there are incidences that involve questionable business practices. If there are no complaints, then that will allow you to breathe more. But continue with your research.

6.) If you are required to sell products from well-known companies, contact the legal department of the company where the merchandises are actually manufactured. Try to see whether this business opportunity and the promoter are connected whatsoever to the legal company. Ask whether the company is aware that this business opportunity are selling their products.

7.) If you want it to be clear in a legal sense, you can seek the advice of an attorney, an accountant or a business adviser before you pay the business opportunity money. You should also contact second opinion before signing any papers. This is also the chance for you to ask whether the business opportunity company has had a negative record legally or fiscally.

8.) Never jump into the decision of working for them. As tempting as what they are saying maybe, always, always think on your decision before saying yes. Ask yourself whether this is a business opportunity for you as well. The bonus of working at home is indeed an icing on your cake. Make sure that there won't be any problems though. Double check whether this business is indeed legal.

If at any point you feel that this business opportunity is a scam, contact FTC at 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357) or email them at ftc.gov ftc.gov.
